Taking back sunday album cover analysis

Images - Is a photo of a highway suggesting freedom which I feel is what the genre stands for so is very pop punky. one of the cars is blurred which could mean that the music is fast. Its quite realistic so its probably indie rock (hybrid).

Language - "Tell all your friends" - direct address almost advertising the Music. In a way that is what CD covers do because it enhances the brand because they could use the same colours and ideas in this as in their music review or advertisement. "152 Victory Records" is a record label company. In addition according to Wikipedia (as unreliable source as it is) the bands name came from "A song by Long Island band The Waiting Process who were inspired by their grandmother, Tina, that they should take back Sunday from the Christian people in Long Island." which is quite interesting. I will have to find out how my band came up with their name "Conquer of the Decades".

The colours are quite mellow with a turquoise blue background which connotes the music will be emotional and having meaning. Nevertheless, the white texts stands out against this. The artists and albums name is white which conotes purity which implies that the music is emotional.

This leads me to fonts which are more or less is the same throughout the medium as they are quite narrow. The only difference is the size in fact the artists name is always bigger than the albums name. Hence this is probably a convention of Digipacks.

Layout - this is quite restricted compared to other CD covers as the text is all aligned to the left. I like the band across it with a white border and may use this in my own project, with more of a rustic feel to it like My Chemical Romance and Avril Lavigne.
